DOH — Department of Health, Abu Dhabi

DOH is the Abu Dhabi Department of Health, the Abu Dhabi-emirate regulator for healthcare facilities and professionals, including the Tamkeen quality framework and the Thiqa national health insurance scheme.

What it does

DOH licenses healthcare in Abu Dhabi through services accessed via the Tamm Abu Dhabi government portal. It oversees the Daman / Thiqa insurance ecosystem (Thiqa: full coverage for UAE nationals registered in Abu Dhabi; Daman Basic Plan: mandatory employer cover for low-income workers). The SEHA public network — including SKMC, SSMC, Tawam, Corniche — operates under DOH.
