MOHAP is the federal Ministry of Health and Prevention, responsible for public health policy at federal level and for health regulation in the Northern Emirates (Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, Ras Al Khaimah, Fujairah). It also licenses medication import into the UAE.
What it does
In Dubai, the Dubai Health Authority (DHA) regulates health locally; in Abu Dhabi, the Department of Health (DOH) regulates locally. Elsewhere, MOHAP is the operating regulator — licensing facilities, registering practitioners, and running public hospitals. MOHAP also operates the federal medication drug list, processes personal-import permits for controlled drugs, and runs vaccination programmes nationwide.
