Ejari — Dubai tenancy contract registration

Ejari is the mandatory Dubai tenancy-contract registration system, operated by RERA under the Dubai Land Department. Every residential or commercial lease in Dubai must be registered through Ejari to be legally enforceable.

What it does

The Ejari certificate (a printable document with a QR code) is required for DEWA water and electricity connection, for sponsoring dependents on a residence visa, for opening a bank account in some cases, and for any landlord-tenant dispute filing at the Rental Disputes Settlement Centre. Registration is the tenant's responsibility in most cases; the fee is approximately AED 220 online (via the Dubai REST app) or higher at service centres.
