Dubai vs Sharjah for Expats: Cost of Living, Commute, and Lifestyle Compared
Al Qasba Canal Walk Running Track
Al Qasba is a canal-side entertainment and dining district in central Sharjah with a paved waterfront walkway that doubles as a pleasant running route. The canal walk covers approximately 2 km one way along the edge of the Al Qasba Canal. Entry is free. It is best visited early morning before the cafes, attractions, and foot traffic arrive.
Khalid Lagoon Corniche Running Track
Khalid Lagoon Corniche is the longest continuous running route in Sharjah — a flat, paved promenade stretching approximately 5 km one way along the edge of Khalid Lagoon. Entry is free, the path is open 24 hours, and it connects directly to Al Majaz Waterfront at the southern end, making it the backbone of Sharjah's central running network.
Al Noor Island Running Track
Al Noor Island is a small landscaped island in Khalid Lagoon, Sharjah, with a paved perimeter path of approximately 1 km. It is not a high-mileage running venue — the loop is short — but it is one of the most scenic running spots in the UAE, with lagoon views throughout and significantly fewer crowds than the Al Majaz Waterfront promenade. Entry costs AED 20.
Al Majaz Waterfront Running Track
Al Majaz Waterfront is the best running track in Sharjah — a flat, paved promenade around Khalid Lagoon in the Al Majaz district. The loop is approximately 3 km, entry is free, and the path is open 24 hours with lighting throughout. It is the most popular outdoor running route in the emirate and the natural starting point for any Sharjah running cluster.
Running Tracks in Sharjah
Sharjah has some of the best free running routes in the UAE — flat waterfront paths, shaded park loops and a scenic island circuit that rivals anything in Dubai. Most are free to enter, open from early morning, and far less crowded than equivalent routes across the border.
